No Matter How Small
Updated: Aug 4, 2020
When it comes to positive change, everyone can make a difference. It doesn't matter if your daily act of kindness is picking up something someone dropped, walking a dog at the humane society, or giving $10,000 to a charitable organization. We all are capable of contributing to the world in different, yet positive ways. Whether our contribution is lending a smile to a stranger, carrying an elderly folks' groceries, or helping to build a new facility for an organization in need; we all have the ability to give back in varying capacities.
“One person can make a difference, and everyone should try.” ~John F. Kennedy
Recognition is nice, but it doesn't drive my passion and purpose in life and I encourage you to not let praise, worship, applause or status be a driving force for you to do good either. The best way to give is unconditionally, never expecting anything in return and knowing giving back is something that we genuinely want to do out of the kindness of our hearts, creating a lasting impact on the lives we reach.
"Giving back is as good for you as it is for those you are helping, because giving gives you purpose. When you have a purpose-driven life, you’re a happier person." ~Goldie Hawn
I have been so incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to be a part of my community in raising funds and awareness for Alzheimer's, being a part of the Washington County Advocates Against Sex trafficking, giving a voice to those who don't have one, volunteering with Soles for Jesus, volunteering at numerous walks and lemonade stands, and ultimately making an impact in small ways around the state of Wisconsin. I have never expected to be rewarded in such a way, but God is good and I recently received the Brewers Community Achievement Award. This award encompasses volunteers, philanthropists, and other heroes from the community that have helped to cultivate change and leave positive marks in extraordinary ways. I was in awe to throw out the first pitch at Miller Park when the Brewers defeated the Nationals, 6-1.
Can't help but think I was the teams good luck charm that night... ;)

“No act of kindness no matter how small is ever wasted.” ~Aesop
This incredible experience just proves how important and purposeful giving back is and that it does not matter what shape or form giving comes in, but when helping others becomes a priority, you too will be blessed beyond measure. You don't have to be involved in everything and you may not change the world. However, a million little things add up to big things. If we all play our part in contributing our gifts, time and talents back into causes and charities dear to our hearts, together we can make a difference.
“Great leaders don’t set out to be a leader, they set out to make a difference. it’s never about the role, always about the goal.” ~Jeremy Bravo
Give within your means, but don't underestimate your ability to do great things.
One of the best ways I have found my purpose in life is by not making it about me, and making it about what I can do for others. To find your true talents we must see what talents we can use to make a positive impact on our communities around us, no matter how small.
